Them Crooked Vultures – Stream entire new album for free!

I think I like this band A LOT!
They’re another super group – with Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones comprising the core of the group. That sounds to me like the makings of a hard rockin band, and from what I hear so far, they don’t disappoint!
The new album is out soon,  but you can stream the whole thing for free here now:

Friends who’ve already seen em live say they’re great, and I can’t wait to see em next time they hit LA.

Beat!Beat!Beat!

I’ve just discovered this fun band from Germany called Beat!Beat!Beat!

Nothing too deep here – their music is dance-y pop party music.. NME calls em Germany’s answer to the Foals, I think they sound a little bit like Friendly Fires as well.I’m currently bopping along listening to their song “Fireworks”. Based on the video on their Myspace page, it looks like they’d be really fun live too!
They’re touring Europe now thru March, and I’m keeping my eye on em for their arrival to the States.
Check out their Myspace page here:http://www.myspace.com/beatbeatbeatband

Listen to the song Fireworks.

U2 at the Rosebowl, 10-25-09 / YouTube broadcast link

Magnificent!
That pretty much sums up the show last night!
I’d read so much about the “claw” stage that I was excited to see it up close and personal! The enormous stage is quite a sight to behold, and is very fan friendly, allowing the band to play truly in the round. I especially liked the rolling “bridges” which crossed from the outer circle catwalk to the inner circle stage. Bono had fun with the crowd while crossing direcly over them on these bridges, it was fun to watch!

Bono sounded great, the Edge’s guitar riffs pierced thru the night in a way that only his can.

Other than the record attendance, another history-making part of the night was the live broadcast of the entire show on YouTube, which seemingly went off without a hitch.

Did you miss it? I was too busy being up close and personal so I’m excited to see this. Check out the YouTube broadcast, in it’s entirety, here – I think the glimpses backstage at the start and end of the show are very cool.

Grizzly Bear – Hollywood Palladium 10/20/09

I love this band and had a great time as usual at their show in Hollywood last week.

They create such beautiful, atmospheric, powerful music that is also incredibly intelligent, deliberate and carefully composed.

You won’t hear radio friendly hooks that get stuck in your head and overstay their welcome.

Instead, the music will haunt you and emerge at the front of our mind when you least expect it.
I find myself occasionally jonesing for this band.. I NEED to hear them in order to satisfy a particular mood or moment I’m in.

Check out their latest album “Vecatimest”, and they’ve also got a song on the “New Moon” soundtrack called “Slow Life”.
Catch them live if you can!

I just wanna scream HELLOOOO!!!

Well, I’ve finally done it… Started a music blog. Hello Blogosphere!!

“Another music blog?! That’s the LAST thing we need!” you say… But I think I can contribute a fun, passionate perspective of music and the live shows that I love.

Who am I?
I’m an East Coaster now Los Angeles based passionate music lover and fan, who’s been a bit of a late bloomer. Only in the last few years have I started going to lots of shows, and I’m just getting started! I’ve been lucky to have some amazing experiences already.. surfing with Eddie Vedder probably tops my list at the moment!

I can’t even begin to list the bands I adore, but I’ll start with the fact that I’m a HUGE fan of Pearl Jam, Radiohead and Grizzly Bear.. I also love Kings of Leon, Fleet Foxes, The Doors, Led Zepplin, Elbow, Daft Punk, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Chris Isaak, Dave Brubeck, Verdi and Gershwin. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. I’ve never met a song I didn’t like for at least some reason.

I love ALL music, I’m always on the lookout for my next fave (at the moment it’s The Temper Trap and Doves)..
I take LOTS of pictures at shows and want to share them too.
So, stay tuned.. I’ll start posting some stories, some pictures, and hope to see some of you out at a show soon!
I’m also happy to check out any new /unsigned / indie bands! Send me something! I’ll write about it!
